Redistricting Analysis
The purpose of a redistricting analysis is to balance work load, minimize travel time required to cover a given territory, or both. In some cases it is the inverse of a site selection analysis - instead of finding the best location to place a specific operation, you identify the best territory to serve from given location(s). In all cases the objective is territory optimization based upon some set of criteria, most commonly minimizing travel or balancing workload.
Like optimization analysis, you can use multiple scenarios to assess:
- ...implications of different numbers of districts.
- ...regular staffing vs. off-hours or emergency coverage.
- ...different growth scenarions.
This technique is useful for evaluating any kind of service area, whether the territory is served by a physical facility or not. Common applications include fire districts, sales territories, call-out assignments, maintenance zones, postal marketing areas, and even management districts. PRES Services applies this technique to identify efficient regions for field operations.
